ABOUT THE ARTIST
Home
Linda T. Mihara has been folding origami since the age of six. She is a third generation Japanese American who learned the art of paper folding from her grandfather, Tokinobu Mihara, author of 'Origami-Japanese Art Of Paper Folding'.

Though proficient in all aspects of origami, Linda is most known for her work with origami wedding cranes, where she designs and creates works of art using 1,000 folded cranes. Her designs range from the traditional family crests to modern designs incorporating multi-cultural symbols. She has been creating these art works for over 15 years and has clients all over the country.

Her specialty is the intricate folding of three-dimensional origami 'sculptures', where multiple numbers of cranes are folded from a single sheet of paper. Her 'Peace Sphere', a three-dimensional globe of 18 cranes will be featured in the upcoming 'Origami Masterworks' exhibit in San Diego, California.

Active in the San Francisco Cherry Blossom Festival since its inception in 1968, Linda continues to teach Origami to festival attendees from around the world.

Linda has been featured in various publications including B FOR SAVVY BRIDES magazine, and the Hokubei Mainichi, Nichibei Times and Yomiuri America newspapers. Appearances include EVENING MAGAZINE, the CAROL DUVALL SHOW on HGTV, and KRON4 NEWS. Her clients include INDUSTRIAL LIGHT AND MAGIC, the WALL STREET JOURNAL, BANK OF AMERICA and SAKS FIFTH AVENUE. She also appeared in a special edition of DENNIS THE MENACE comics featuring the CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL.
